Gauselmann now Merkur.com AG
The Merkur brand has gained great importance since the 1970s. In 1976, when Paul Gauselmann presented his first self-developed slot machine “Merkur B” and received PTB approval, it set industry standards. The laughing Merkur sun is not only a popular symbol for games and luck in Germany, but also internationally known. In March 2022, adp Gauselmann GmbH was renamed adp Merkur GmbH. The group of companies is continuing to harmonize its brand names by renaming Gauselmann AG to Merkur.com AG.
Paul Gauselmann emphasized this by saying: “The renaming is a recognition of both our product and the symbol closely associated with it, the Merkur Sun. Because without a doubt, she best embodies the joy of the game.”
The change of name has no impact on the ownership structure of Merkur.com AG. The company remains owned by the Gauselmann Family Foundation, which took over the company shares from Paul Gauselmann and his family on January 1, 2016. Since then, the foundation has been solely responsible for fundamental strategic decisions and thus ensures the unbreakable connection between the Gauselmann name and the group.
The Gauselmann Family Foundation is managed by a three-member Board of Directors, with Paul Gauselmann still as Chairman. The advisory board of the foundation is largely made up of members of the Gauselmann family, which further underscores the company's close ties to the region.
Merkur in German online casinos is Gamomat international
